The Return: Autumn On Your Mind

You wake up one morning and something feels different; there is a freshness in the air. Everything smells crisp; you have an urge to pull out your comfiest sweater. Then it hits you, it's fall time!
Yes, of course, how could you forget? You have waited 365 days to feel this again. The fresh, crisp, autumn weather entices every feeling of comfort and familiarity.
Fall time is the perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy the last fading beautiful days of the year, until you have to settle in to the depths of winter. But don’t get me wrong, winter has some great opportunities to enjoy those frigid days us Albertans are so used to. However, that is not why we are here! There is nothing more enjoyable than getting together with your friends, drinking some hot cider, and partaking in some classic fall festivities we all know and love.
Edmonton is no exception for those classics. We have great places to absorb that fall feeling that’ll have to last us until the next… well, fall! We are going to explore some great activities to fill up that craving that is much needed during sweater weather.
Starting with maybe the most iconic and epitomal fall activity out there, PUMPKIN PATCHES! Edmonton and area has a couple of options to get out and pick up the pumpkins that’ll get carved for spooky season, or Halloween. The Edmonton Corn Maze is a great option for pumpkins; although it’s not that patch style you might crave. The corn maze has a great selection of pumpkins, squashes, gourds and decorative gourds, that every household needs during fall. The next option is Somerset Pumpkin Farms, and it is a great option for families to go and get that pumpkin patch feeling. They boast a large selection of pumpkins with around twenty different varieties, priced from $3 up to $10 (note: they are a cash only business as of now).
The next activity on our list is something already mentioned. The Edmonton Corn Maze is a fantastic fall family activity, that can be enjoyed from August to October. Admission is $12 for general, $9 for kids and under five get in for free. The corn maze is open Tuesday-Sunday every week. I mean, what a great place to enjoy a beautiful fall day; the maze has a petting zoo, go carts and bounce pillows. No matter who is in your family, there is an activity for everyone.
Finally why not grab your family, or some of your closest friends and take a walk in the river valley? The trees and valley sides change into the best colours during fall and make a great opportunity for a stroll. And after that stroll, there is nothing like warming up with a spicy mug full of hot apple cider. My favourite brand is Lynch, but I love to add a couple of cinnamon sticks, an apple slice and toast to fall.
Arguably the best season of all, fall time has every opportunity to get out and about with friends and family and just enjoy each others company. If autumn is on your mind, try one of these and activities and capture that moment.
